Why applying on Paylocity takes so long

  1. 01

Paylocity forms often ask for full work history, education and references, even after you attach a résumé.

  2. 02

Leaving the page before you submit loses everything you've entered so far.

  3. 03

Each employer configures its own sections, so the form changes from one company to the next.

What we'll automate on Paylocity

  1. 01

    Find the posting

We spot new Paylocity roles that match your filters, usually soon after they go live.

  2. 02

    Tailor your résumé

Your résumé is rewritten for that role's wording, without adding experience you don't have.

  3. 03

    Fill every field

Contact details, links, work authorisation, notice period and custom questions, all answered from your profile.

  4. 04

    Submit and record it

We submit the Paylocity form and save a receipt showing every field. If it fails, it doesn't count.

Autofill vs auto-apply

Autofill

  • You find each posting yourself
  • Fills standard fields, if it recognises them
  • Leaves custom questions to you
  • You still press submit, one form at a time

Applysent auto-apply

  • Finds matching postings for you
  • Tailors your résumé to each role
  • Answers custom questions from your profile
  • Submits, then gives you a receipt

Where Paylocity applications come from

Paylocity is a payroll and HR platform used by many US small and mid-sized employers, and its recruiting module powers their job listings. Job boards and forms usually sit on recruiting.paylocity.com, with each job's form at an address containing /Recruiting/Jobs/Apply/ and a job number. Employers often link to it from their own website.

Applying typically doesn't involve creating an account or confirming a code by email. You fill in the form and submit.

What the form can include

Each employer chooses which sections to show and which to require, so the length varies a lot. Sections you may see:

Sections and requirements are set by each employer.
SectionWhat to have ready
RésuméOne file, in .pdf, .doc or .docx format; some employers make it optional
Personal detailsName, email, phone, address
Work historyEmployer names, job titles, dates, and sometimes supervisor names and reasons for leaving
EducationSchools, qualifications and dates
ReferencesNames and contact details for referees
Screening questionsEmployer questions, which may include knockout answers
Work authorisationWhether you're authorised to work in the US
EEOVoluntary demographic questions
Text messagesAn opt-in to receive SMS updates about your application

Paylocity doesn't save drafts. If you close the tab or navigate away mid-application, you'll start again, so gather your work history and references before you begin.

Questions candidates ask about Paylocity

Why enter work history if I've attached a résumé?

Because many employers want it in a standard format they can compare across candidates. Keep it consistent with your résumé: mismatched dates raise questions.

Should I opt in to text messages?

It's optional. Some employers use texts to arrange interviews quickly, which can help. If you'd rather keep things on email, leave it unticked.

How do I know an email from Paylocity is real?

Paylocity's own guidance says messages to candidates come from addresses at mail.paylocity.com. Be wary of anyone asking for payment, gift cards or bank details before an offer, whatever address they use.

Can I apply from outside the US?

You can submit the form, but most Paylocity employers hire for US-based roles and ask directly about US work authorisation. If you'll need a visa, read how to find jobs that sponsor visas first.

What to gather before a Paylocity application

  1. A current résumé as a single .pdf or .docx file.
  2. Exact start and end dates for each job, plus employer names as they appear on your résumé.
  3. Contact details for two or three referees who have agreed to be named.
  4. Your answer on US work authorisation and any future sponsorship needs.
  5. A desired-pay figure, in case the employer asks for one.

Applysent and Paylocity

We'll add Paylocity soon. Applysent does not apply to Paylocity jobs today. Join the waitlist to hear when it's live.

Once Paylocity is supported, Applysent is meant to handle it the way it handles the live systems: tailor your résumé, fill in work history and education from your profile so they match your résumé, answer screening and authorisation questions from your saved answers, and keep a receipt of each submission.

Today it applies on Lever, SmartRecruiters, Ashby, Workable, Recruitee, Greenhouse, Workday, Oracle Recruiting Cloud, Teamtailor and JazzHR. If you're building a US search around smaller employers, the United States page explains what's covered now, and how to track job applications helps you keep manual Paylocity applications organised alongside the rest.

Things it won't do

  • Hand over references you haven't added to your profile.
  • Answer a work authorisation question in a way that doesn't match your real situation.
  • Contact employers or recruiters in your name, or promise an interview.
