Visiting Student - PHY - Zhang, Ruomu - 10.15.26
Lemont, United States
- Part time
About the role
The student will contribute to the construction and operation of an instrument to continuously reload individual ytterbium atoms into an optical tweezer array that is strongly coupled to an optical cavity. In combination with a similar instrument at University of Chicago, the instrument will be used to establish long-distance entanglement between ytterbium atoms and perform proof-of-principle measurements that utilize the optical clock transition in ytterbium to probe quantum-mechanical effects that arise due to gravitational shifts of the clock transition in curved space-time. This work is part of the Q-NEXT center.
