Job Summary

Our production environment currently runs on an earlier version of these compilers, and migrating to a more recent one requires a thorough assessment of the changes introduced, both functionally and in terms of performance.

As part of this internship, you will help analyze the latest developments in a range of C++ and Fortran compilers used in our high-performance scientific computing activities.

Your mission will be to identify, analyze and document the main evolutions of this new compiler generation, focusing on the optimizations implemented, their impact on the performance of our scientific applications, and the potential benefits for our computing environments. You will run tests, compare results and make recommendations to support this technological transition.

You will join a team of around fifteen professionals in Massy, where we develop and maintain our in-house scientific computing software and all its complementary tools (HPC, Big Data, AI). We work with colleagues around the world, and our team thrives on open exchange, innovation, feedback and continuous learning. We are proud to be able to count on one another to achieve our goals and serve our colleagues as best we can.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review our current compilation environment.
  • Get hands-on with the next version of the compiler range and conduct a literature review of its major changes.
  • Select a set of test cases, either synthetic or drawn from our production scientific code.
  • Analyze the compilation outputs of these test cases, compare them and assess the performance gains.
  • Compare the optimizations applied by the compiler depending on the options enabled.
  • Present progress to our team throughout the internship.

Qualifications

  • You are currently pursuing a Master 2 degree in computer science (engineering school or university) and want to put your skills into practice in an innovative environment

  • You are a good listener, able to understand your colleagues’ needs and contribute effectively to the projects entrusted to you

  • You enjoy teamwork and collaborating with people from varied profiles
  • You are eager to grow in an international environment and gradually build your autonomy
