About the role

WSP is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Construction Supervision team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing the delivery of electrical systems associated with a major roads and highways infrastructure project, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and client expectations.

This role requires a highly capable professional with extensive site supervision experience on large-scale transportation and infrastructure projects, working closely with contractors, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the construction phase.

  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience in electrical engineering.
  • Proven experience working with leading international engineering consultancy firms.
  • Significant experience in construction supervision and site-based roles.
  • Demonstrated experience on major roads, highways, transportation, or infrastructure projects.
  • Previous experience working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is essential.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems associated with transport and infrastructure projects.
  • Experience coordinating with contractors, utility authorities, and government stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects within quality, safety, and schedule requirements.

Construction Supervision & Site Monitoring

  • Supervise and monitor all electrical construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and applicable standards.
  • Inspect and oversee installation works related to highway electrical systems including:
  • Street lighting systems
  • Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
  • Traffic signal infrastructure
  • Power distribution systems
  • Electrical substations
  • Communication networks
  • Tunnel and roadway electrical systems (where applicable)
  • Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and work procedures.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality audits to ensure works are delivered in accordance with project requirements.

Monitor contractor performance and progress against approved construction schedules.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical guidance and support to site teams, clients, and contractors on electrical engineering matters.
  • Review and resolve technical queries, RFIs, non-conformance reports, and design-related issues.
  • Coordinate with design teams to address construction challenges and ensure effective implementation of approved solutions.

Participate in value engineering and constructability reviews where required.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure all electrical works comply with project specifications, local regulations, Saudi standards, and international engineering best practices.
  • Verify testing and commissioning activities and witness factory acceptance tests (FATs) and site acceptance tests (SATs) as required.
  • Prepare and review inspection reports, test reports, snagging lists, and commissioning documentation.

Support project closeout activities and final handover documentation.

Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with clients, contractors, utility authorities, and relevant government agencies.
  • Attend progress meetings, technical workshops, and coordination meetings with project stakeholders.

Support interface management for utility diversions and integration with other infrastructure systems.

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance on site.
  • Ensure all electrical installations are executed in accordance with approved HSE procedures and project safety requirements.
  • Participate in safety inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments as required.
