About the Role:





Key Duties/Responsibilities

Without limiting the general scope and application of this Duty Statement, the duties include:

Recycling, Waste Management & Sorting

  • Re purpose second-hand goods
  • Operate singulator including feed-in and dispatching container deposit
  • Record container sales including customer account sales
  • Clean and sanitize second-hand shop
  • Working at waste transfer and recycling centre
  • Works on a complex sort on the conveyer line
  • Implements and has input to the development of training plans for employees with and without disabilities.

Timber Work

  • Operating, but not setting up all machinery under general supervision
  • Sorts, stacks and binds timber materials.
  • Uses selected hand tools
  • Visually grades for defects
  • Operates manual transfer equipment
  • Operates a range of preset wood machines

Vehicle and Machinery Operation

  • Drive Valmar vehicles and machines, where licenced and required.
  • Operate forklift
  • Use motorized blower
  • Use push mowers
  • Use whipper snipper
  • Operate a range wood machinery including rip saw, docking saw and router
  • Shred security shredding
  • Operate the ride on mower with supervision

Retail Operations

  • Operate cash register, EFTPOS plus totalling daily sales, and cash float

Grounds & Site Maintenance

  • Grounds maintenance
  • Sweep
  • Support employees
  • Supervises the work flow at multiple work stations.

Work Health & Safety (WHS), Code of Conduct & Compliance

  • Promote and encourage all aspects of safety within the workplace.
  • At all times, and in all locations, work with all staff and in a positive appropriate manner in line with the Valmar Code of Conduct.
  • Participate in the Valmar Performance Appraisal process.
  • To work within WHS guidelines.
  • Hold a current First Aid certificate and administer first aid when required
  • Complete Incident reports as required
  • Conduct machinery and equipment safety checks daily

Selection Criteria:

Essential:

Skills:

  • Has good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Multi tasks within their ADE
  • Ability to perform a range of production tasks in a factory, timber, and recycling environment.
  • Competence in operating various tools and machinery, including wood processing equipment, forklifts, and gardening tools (e.g. mowers, whipper snippers, blowers).
  • Sound understanding of workplace safety practices and ability to follow WHS procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work positively with people with disabilities.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work under general supervision, and contribute to team outcomes.
  • Basic cash handling, EFTPOS and point-of-sale operation skills.
  • Ability to complete basic documentation, such as incident reports and sales records.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining cleanliness and order in the work environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting or working alongside people with disabilities

Qualifications, Licences and minimum experience requirements:

- Holds at least two of the following externally certified qualifications:

  • Light Rigid Drivers Licence/ Medium Rigid Drivers Licence
  • Forklift Operators Licence
  • Chainsaw Operators Certificate
  • Certificate 3 in Community Services (Disability)
  • Certificate 3 in Timber and Forests Products
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment & Training
  • Certificate 3 in Hospitality
  • Certificate 3 in Horticulture or Green Keeping
  • Other appropriate Qualification as agreed upon between the employee and Valmar

- Experience in timber processing, factory work, recycling, or grounds maintenance

- Experience operating manual and powered equipment safely and effectively

- Current NSW Driver’s Licence

- Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

- NDIS Worker Screening Check
