About the role

About Us

Slope is a fast-growing fintech company transforming B2B commerce through AI-powered embedded lending. Backed by $78M in equity capital by Sam Altman, Y Combinator and others, and over $200M in warehouse facilities from J.P. Morgan Chase and others, we’ve partnered with global brands like Amazon, Walmart, IKEA, Alibaba, Samsung —and we’re just getting started. Our product and business model have evolved significantly, and we’re looking for a hands-on, execution-focused accounting professional to join us during this exciting growth phase.

The Role

We’re seeking a self-sufficient, detail-oriented Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager to own accounting and help run day-to-day finance operations at Slope. You’ll lead the monthly close, annual audit, and externally managed tax processes, while keeping cash reconciliations, remittances, and financial reporting accurate and on schedule. You’ll also support borrowing-base and warehouse operations in partnership with capital markets. This is a full-time, hands-on individual contributor role reporting directly to the CEO / co-founder, with close collaboration across finance, operations, engineering, and data science.

Responsibilities

Own and execute the monthly close in QuickBooks, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and timely financial statements

Run daily cash reconciliations across operating, collection, and lender accounts; track restricted and unrestricted cash, pending settlements, and amounts owed to bank partners and loan buyers

Prepare remittance reports, bank transfers, and payments for required approvals; monitor settlement and reconcile completed cash movements

Support borrowing-base calculations and certificates, loan pledges, draws and paydowns, and monthly servicer reporting in partnership with capital markets; track deadlines, facility utilization, and exceptions

Coordinate loan-sale settlement and loan ownership updates with capital markets and engineering so loan records, cash movements, and partner reporting stay aligned

Lead annual financial audits (currently with RSM), including preparation, supporting schedules, auditor requests, reporting, and financial statement drafting support

Manage tax workflows and coordinate with external tax advisors

Own accounting processes and documentation; take over existing workflows through a structured handoff and maintain clear procedures, reporting calendars, approval steps, and backup coverage

Maintain accurate loan, revenue, equity, and stock compensation accounting; reconcile financing fees, charge-offs and recoveries, warehouse interest, and bank partner fees to the general ledger

Engage support when technical accounting issues arise (equity, warrants, revenue treatment, etc.)

Improve accounting and finance operations workflows through practical automation, stronger controls, and scalable reporting

Partner with engineering and data science to reconcile loan tapes and repayment data to bank activity, general ledger balances, and warehouse reports; investigate and resolve discrepancies

Prepare financial and cash metrics for investor updates and lender reporting, and maintain audit-ready schedules that support financial diligence and reconcile to reported actuals

What We’re Looking For

Strong hands-on accounting experience, including ownership of monthly close and reconciliations. Public accounting experience is preferred; fintech lending or startup experience is a plus.

Experience running or supporting external audits from end to end

Hands-on expertise with QuickBooks, monthly close, financial statement preparation, and technical accounting, plus the ability to execute recurring cash reconciliations, payment workflows, and operational reporting

Familiarity with loan accounting, equity accounting, and stock comp

Startup mindset: comfortable taking over existing processes quickly, managing daily and monthly deadlines, documenting work, and escalating discrepancies with autonomy

Excellent communication and collaboration skills; no ego, low politics

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred

Bonus Points

Experience in fintech lending or revenue accounting for complex financial products, loans etc.

Experience with warehouse lending or forward-flow operations, including borrowing-base reports, loan pledges, settlements, and remittances

Strong documentation and process improvement mindset, hands on leader

Location & Workstyle

Flexible location (we have a San Francisco office and also open to remote).

Small, collegial team where you’ll meet both founders and cross-functional colleagues during the process

Benefits

Competitive compensation and meaningful equity

99% employer-paid health insurance

High ownership, high-impact environment
