About the role

Senior Product Manager

Location: Remote

Compensation: $140,000-165,000, plus benefits

Report to: Rivet’s co-founder

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Rivet Education devises simple, practical, and scalable strategies that promote excellent instruction for every student in every classroom, every day. Our work is driven by our core values—equity, kindness, quality, joy, and an unwavering commitment to students and teachers—and is focused on increasing access to high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) and aligned professional learning.

Specifically, we support education leaders in creating successful strategies to scale the use of HQIM by:

Providing a roadmap for high-quality curriculum implementation—who should be doing what and when;

Evaluating professional learning providers through the Professional Learning Partner Guide; and

Creating simple and practical resources to smooth the path forward and accelerate progress.

Rivet’s Instructional Materials Implementation Tool and Dashboard collect and analyze data on curriculum implementation across the K-12 system to identify trends and next steps for each role: system leaders, school leaders, and teachers.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Rivet Education is seeking a highly organized, user experience-focused Senior Product Manager to oversee the vision and direction of our suite of products. The Senior Product Manager will lead the strategy, development, and ongoing improvement of Rivet’s portfolio of digital products, including the Implementation Dashboard, Professional Learning Partner Guide, and AI products. This role will translate customer needs and business priorities into product roadmaps, manage internal and external development partners, and use data to drive decisions about features, user experience, pricing, and product performance. As Rivet’s product lead, this person will combine strategic product thinking with hands-on execution to ensure our products deliver meaningful value to customers and support Rivet’s long-term growth.

This role is ideal for a self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset who can drive meaningful product outcomes while working asynchronously with cross-functional teams. This is a remote position with Central Time Zone work hours, and flexibility required to accommodate other time zones of team members and clients. Occasional travel is required for conferences, in-person collaboration, and team meetings. The Senior Product Manager reports to one of the organization’s Co-Founders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Strategy and Customer Insight

Own the product lifecycle and integrated roadmap for Rivet’s Implementation Dashboard, Professional Learning Partner Guide (PLPG), and AI Evaluator, aligning customer needs, business objectives, opportunities to bring products together, and measurable outcomes

Build a deep understanding of state education agencies, local education agencies, and professional learning providers through research, interviews, feedback, product data, and collaboration with the Customer Service Manager

Confirm customer needs and test proposed solutions to inform product development

Develop working expertise in each product and its underlying models, including the PLPG review rubric, Implementation Dashboard data model, and AI Evaluator’s performance relative to human review

Product Definition and User Experience

Translate validated customer and market problems into clear requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria

Create user flows, low-fidelity wireframes, and interface copy that help vendors design and build effectively

Identify usability issues early and ensure products are intuitive, accessible, and responsive to customer needs

Development and Vendor Management

Prioritize and sequence development across releases, breaking work into shippable increments and communicating decisions, trade-offs, dependencies, and changes

Serve as the primary product contact for external development and design vendors, setting scope, maintaining issue queues, coordinating dependencies, and reviewing work

Conduct acceptance testing and manage bugs and workarounds through resolution, responding quickly and effectively when issues arise

Partner with technical experts on architecture, data sharing and storage, privacy and compliance, accessibility, and AI reliability to address risks and ensure solutions meet product requirements

Product Performance and Team Enablement

Define and monitor product health and business performance measures, including adoption, renewal, review throughput, reviewer efficiency, development and AI operating costs, and profitability

Use customer insights and performance data to recommend product improvements and pricing and packaging decisions

Maintain clear product documentation, release notes, decision records, and planning processes

Equip sales, communications, and client-facing teams with the necessary product information and materials

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ten or more years in software product management, including at least one product carried from definition through launch and at least two cycles of iteration afterward.

Experience leading outsourced or vendor-built product development, setting clear requirements, guiding execution, and holding partners accountable for quality and delivery.

Technical fluency sufficient to read an application programming interface specification, understand a data model, question an architectural choice, and determine whether an estimate is credible.

Working knowledge of the United States K-12 education market, specifically how state and local education agencies budget, buy, and adopt. Familiarity with curriculum structure, adoption process, implementation, professional learning, or educator development valued.

Demonstrated ability to engage directly with customer stakeholders and translate their feedback into clear, actionable findings.

Ability to define meaningful metrics and build dashboards to track performance.

Strong self-direction, with sound judgment in setting priorities, taking initiative, and following through with minimal oversight.

Experience working with AI for optimizing operational workflows and/or designing features that incorporate human review, with sound judgment about the reliability of model outputs.

Experience independently managing responsibilities without dedicated specialist support; experience in an organization of fewer than 20 people valued.

Experience developing pricing or packaging for subscription or credentialing products.

Ability to translate user needs into workflows and low-fidelity wireframes that a design contractor can refine.
